Buy Reddit?

Main Post:

Hello,

I’ve been eying Reddit for a while and it has tremendously increased. Do you guys think it will keep increasing or do you see it dipping? Should I buy now or wait? Btw I am a beginner investor lol.

Top Comment: I’m no expert, so this isn’t advise, but just where I am with RDDT right now... I joined a preIPO company that went public some years ago, completely new to investing and suddenly holding a lot of money in a brokerage acct. I started selling my company equity as it vested and buying what I thought I was supposed to buy, based on reading about FAANGS and other sectors. Also bought a bunch of VTI to not be entirely risk heavy. But I also looked at products I like to use every day - like Spotify, for example - which everyone was down on and didn’t seem like a good stock to buy. So I didn’t buy it. Now looking at Spotify, I wish I would’ve bought it because I know it and love it as a product. That’s where I am with RDDT today. I love RDDT, I’m starting to hear my elderly family members reference RDDT. I’m not going to sit out on RDDT and look back, pissed at myself, for not getting in on a product I believe in during its early IPO days. So I keep buying RDDT now and plan to hold long. 800 shares in but still buying more here and there on dip days.

Would you buy Reddit stock?

Main Post:

I like reddit as a product but wondering if it makes a good investment. or a LEAP purchase given its volatility.

  1. Among top 10 most visited sites in the world. Clean interface
  2. Reddit allows anonymity so people share more (personal, financial). Quora and Facebook are losing out on this front
  3. Good answer and nested comment format.
  4. With AI based apps most people just AI chatbots for basic stuff. For more serious stuff people always come to reddit. Lot of people even explicitly google search 'xyz reddit'
  5. With LLM models, Reddit can parse text and find better ads for user
  6. It is just at $ 25 B market cap. Comparable Meta is at 2T

Cons

  1. It can end up like SNAP where there are lot of users but no profits. But SNAP doesnt have an archive of information.
  2. Google can and is f*ing it.

Any ideas? Also are there other subreddits to discuss stocks.

Top Comment: Hell no. I love Reddit but there really isn't freedom of speech.

What are your best buy it for life items

Main Post:

As per the title. Just wanted to get a feel of what are the best things you can buy it for life. And what are the most value for money ones?

I've bought a $3 t-shirt from Kmart and I must say, I've had great use for several years now.

I feel like a good bumbag can be somewhat surprisingly cheap and go a long way. I've had one for years and is in great condition, for the most part.

Top Comment: Canning Jars. I use them for canning, freezing (just don't overfill them as freezing stuff expands), what I dehydrate like cherry tomatoes from my garden, storage in my cabinets. I buy in bulk to save money. I garden to save money.
